Do you have Sir Walter Raleigh in a can?
Yes! Well let him out! If your grandparents were typical US kids they played this joke on their grocer. It's one of those old jokes that has become like urban legend.
This can has sat atop this workbench since our grandparents were kids. No one has disturbed the contents of this old mill building since perhaps 1936. I used my sweet little Cooke 8 1/2" on full plate size for this.

Boy, that's what I call texture!!!!!! You know what your story reminds me of, when I was a small kid, we had the Helms Bakery truck that used to blow that unique whistle and stop in the middle of the street, and my folks would get me 'cream puffs' for 15cents a piece. The milkman would pull up w/his milk truck and leave those glass bottles of milk on the front door.
They have this tv show out here, called 'California's Gold', which explores historic site in California, and they did a show on this guy that collects cans and containers like these and old gas station pumps, all the old brand names.
Good stuff
