Thanks Stefan,

The light looks wonderful. Can you remember the aperture you used on your Verito? And ?? What shutter is on your Verito?

Stefan, that is marvelous! Wonderful that you saw the light and knew what the Verito could make with it. Excellent!

Hey Stefan

This is sparkling!!!! Refreshing!!! Just the right kind of detail in the shadows/trunk, contrasting w/pizazz in the highlights.

Good job Stefan
Take care

Hallo,
thank you for your very kind comments. My Verito is a 8 3/4 inch mounted in a BETAX No 5 shutter on an Technika lensboard. I have used it with my Linhof Technika. The picture was made at 5,6 and 1/50 on Kodakt Tri-X.
Thanks again

To Everybody

I was perusing the forums, saw where Jim was talking about Pictorialism, also the premise that others do and promote work suggestive of the idea that the 'dark and sinister' is closer to the 'truth'.

These conversations about 'isms' are always interesting, but I peruse them with the idea that individual work is unique and is hard to 'pideonhole'.

My mother later in her life had cataracts, but she could see, what she saw was different than what other folks without cataracts saw, and I suppose it made a difference. Just like now with my 59yr old eyeballs, when I'm not wearing my prescription specs. It never fails that that just isn't a problem nor do I feel that is is some kind of tragedy that I'm not seeing the way I used to, I just make do w/what I have.

I consider photographers of any particular time period in the same way, they made do w/what they had, creating whatever they created, and you take that 'vision' for what it is, made by 'so and so', who accomplished 'such and such' and you simply appreciated what they did, but whatever it is, it's got nothing to do w/the truth.

Sometimes I think we become obsessed with the idea of getting some truth somehow that can be distilled from what a thing is, as if you could pull the essence out of a rose to understand the flower, or separate a persons soul from their physical aspect. I don't think you can do it, everything's connected, and if you sever the connections it is no longer what it is.

Beautiful is just as valid as the disgusting, as is the bitter and the sweet. Every 'ism' can be enjoyed as inspirational for it's own sake, because they're like a beautiful and classy woman each is to be admired for their individual qualities...........they are not horses in some kind of race to the finish line.

Just speaking out loud a passing thought about how this kind of photography lives again, and is alive around the world, with folks like Stefan D in Germany, us in the US, Steve Nichols down under, and everybody else in between.

With more and more folks taking notice every day.

Everybody have a great Memorial Day.
