Tortured Elm Tonopah
I find myself purposefully looking for 5X12 aspect ratio scenes. This is done with an ancient Darlot landscape meniscus. Long before anyone ever thought of making a soft focus lens on purpose, the landscape meniscii would have a lovely glow unless you stopped them well down. They were never intended to be used wide open as I have here. 12" f6
We don't have any forests to be enchanted so we have to do the best we can with the occasional survivor.

Peaceful looking place, and that's probably because of the lens/exp U used, what are the mountains called in the background??
Is the desert actually a 'calming' place, 'restful', a 'respite' from city life??? Or is that is that a misconception of us 'cityfolks'????
Take care
Hi J. The mountain in the background is called "T mountain" because it has a big T made with white stones probably a century ago when that was popular.
The desert truly is a calming place. The silence and wide open space can help us to reach into our thoughts quite differently than being stalled on a freeway somewhere. I'm always glad to get back to our slower pace here. I tend to get irritated if I have to wait for 3 cars to go by before I can turn left on Main street. There are no traffic lights or for that matter even a stop sign on the main street through town. You do have to slow to 25 though or you may be adding $$ to our local economy.
An Epiphany for me happened about two weeks ago. I have an old '78 450SL given to me when my Father died in '95. I run it to the grocery store and 'put put' around in short runs to keep it running.
Two weeks ago, either to see if it had an alarm, or just to vandalize it, somebody busted out the rear side panel window out of the hardtop. Took 2 weeks to find a replacement window @ $70.00 and I was lucky to find this outfit because everybody else quote me $195.00 for just the window which is about 10 inches square, plus $100.00 to have it installed. I can understand somebody trying to steal it, but to just jack it up for the hell of it has me pissed.
Then the kids who probably busted it the window out, showed up in front of my house the other day because they had a basketball they were throwing up to try to bust out a street lamp next door. I chased them away, but this is getting tiresome, so the seeds of seeking a quieter life in a quieter place are taking root.
The kids getting a little older will be my excuse for my exodus.
