What strikes me in these examples is that you aren't afraid to let some parts go dark. I was looking at the collection of "Camera Work" photographs, and felt the same thing there. Sometimes, I think I obsess too much with preserving detail in the shadows, but then I see examples such as this and stop worrying. Wonderful!! The forest DOES look like this.
Hey George, I always try to get some details in the dark but the contrast range is so wide that some parts did not come out. The prints are a bit better, but it doesn't bother me because I think the contrast pronounces the light areas. And it is true. If you are looking at the forest on a sunny day and your eye is focussing a light area the dark parts are totally black. All the best Stefan d Again to Jim: I think I misunderstood your question.
