Maria

A good friend from my wife's aikido class. Her nickname is "Joy" because she is an ambulent antidepressent. However, I was going for a "power" look/pose, thus the expression (she had to work at it). This with the trusty Verito at f/8.  I love this lens.

Well done George. The tones are really working well. Can I ask the film developer you use and are you favouring any particular combo for the Verito?

Hi Steve,

I souped this in Diafine, using a Uniroler gizmo (basically a poor man's Jobo). Diafine is a 2-bath 'compensating' developer. I forgot to mention that this is on a 8x10 neg.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'combo,' however I am leaning towards f/8 to f/11 for portraits. f/4 to f/6 is too 'in your face' -- too obvious -- f/4 to f/6 is better with landscapes when there is high contrast and you want the intense halo effect.

The Verito definitely has a curved focus field, and I relied on that. I focused on the eyes and assumed that other things of interest would be in focus as well. There is a "coming towards you" look to the result -- really pronounced when it's rendered on photo paper. I have another shot using a Heliar that shows this effect (if anyone's interested).

Cheers,

George
